What does a typical day look like?

Doors open at 7:30 a.m. with free play, then circle time, outdoor play and group activities before lunch. Afternoons are nap, snack, then dance, music, arts and crafts and free play until pick-up. Full schedule is on our Our Centre page.

What are your hours?

Monday to Friday, 7:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m., with extended care available to 7:00 p.m. We also run a weekend play-care drop-in program on Saturdays and Sundays.

What ages do you serve?

La Vie Est Belle offers infant and toddler care for children under 3, and group child care from 2.5 years to school age.

What should my child bring?

Indoor shoes without laces, at least two full changes of clothes (three or more for children who are toilet learning), a fitted cover and blanket for the nap mat, a comfort item if it helps, and a labelled sun hat, sunscreen and water bottle. Please label everything with your child's name, leave toys, candy and anything containing nuts at home, and hand any medication directly to an educator rather than packing it in the bag.

Do you provide meals and snacks?

Families provide their child's meals and snacks each day, labelled and portioned for their child's age and needs. We are a nut-free facility, so no food containing nuts can come in, and we ask you to tell us about every allergy and dietary restriction before your child starts.

How do you settle a new child in?

Gently, at your child's pace. Many families start with shorter visits and build up to a full day, and you are welcome to visit together before the official start date. On the first morning a warm but brief goodbye works best, and we will text or call to let you know how your child is doing.

How does weekend play-care work?

Weekend sessions run in the same rooms we use during the week and are open to weekday families, weekend-only families and drop-in visits. Call or email to book. Drop-in care needs at least one week's notice so we can confirm space and staffing, and government childcare funding does not apply to it.

What languages do you offer?

Certified ECE programs in English, French and Mandarin, woven into everyday play rather than taught as separate lessons.

Is there a waitlist, and when should I apply?

Spots in Port Coquitlam childcare can fill up well before a family needs them, especially for infant care. Contact us as early as you can, even during pregnancy, so we can tell you our current availability and, if a program is full, add your name to the list for that age group.

Question 11

Do you charge a fee to join the waitlist?

Accepted Answer

No. British Columbia banned waitlist fees for licensed child care providers effective April 1, 2024, so we do not charge to add your child's name to a list. Adding your name simply means we will contact you as spaces open up for your child's age group.
